Answers with solution

1. In the first sentence, one of
will be followed by plural noun
and singular verb. So my
friends must come in place of
my friend.

2. Many of is always followed
by plural noun and plural verb.
So the correct phrase is many
of the students.

3. If a lot of is followed by
material noun, it takes singular
verb. So put has instead of
have.

4. Prefer is always followed by
to.

5. In the sentence of
comparison, the nominative
case will be compared with
nominative case and objective
with objective case. So instead
of me there shall be I.

6. In this sentence also we will
use those of Utter Pradesh.

7. It is I who have is the right
phrase and the relative
pronoun must have verb as per
the subject preceded to it.

8. A black and white cat is is
the right sentence as the
article is used before the first
adjective only.

9. The secretary and the poet
have addressed the gathering
is the correct sentence as
there is the article before the
two nouns which show that
there are two persons.

10. Same or such must be
followed by that or as.
